Romemotion.com is pleased to offer Rome Historical Tour that will start anywhere you wish as long as it is within Rome city centre.
Your english speaking driver will show you magnificent Piazza del Popolo where you will admire the world wide famous obelisk, you will then head towards Piazza di Spagna and feel the atmosphere of being in the most fashionable part of the city. You will pay a visit by the Trevi Fountain, Rome’s baroque jewel, famous for Fellini’s Dolce Vita. According to a traditional legend, if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they are ensured to return to Rome.
You will drive through Piazza Venezia, a piazza at the foot of the Capitoline Hill (Campidoglio) and near the Roman Forum. It is dominated by the imposing Victor Emmanuel II monument. This is the large central square in the hub of Rome.
You will then enjoy the unique sight of the massive structure of the Colosseum and the Roman Forums driving along the Imperial Forums. You can’t miss a visit to Circo Massimo, nowadays a public garden. During the reign of Constantine, the Circus could hold more than 200,000 spectators. You will have a look at the world wide known marble mask called Mouth of Truth (Bocca della Verità). According to popular belief it was said that any one putting his hand in this mouth and swearing falsely, could not withdraw it. You will then proceed towards the Tiber Island (Isola Tiberina). This boat-shaped island is well known for being the site of an ancient temple to Aesculapius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. In fact one of the most famous hospitals of Rome is located on the island. You cannot miss Piazza Navona, which is now the pride of Baroque Rome. It has sculptural and architectural creations from the main artists in the world such as Bernini and Borromini. Your tour will end at Sant’Angelo bridge where you could admire the magnificent Castel Sant’Angelo, the Mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian.
